How did it get to be November

a group of friends did a swap with Lori Holts apron quilt. It turned out so cute. Now I'm deciding whether to scallop the edges or leave them straight.
This is hanging on the wall right now waiting for me to get back to it and get the blocks sewn together. I took the month of October to catch up on projects and get things quilted. This basket quilt was one of the many I did but I still have 7 more to get quilted. I'm working on christmas presents now so I can't show those yet.

I did an online tote bag swap. this is the one I made and I got the most darling one in return.

The boys coming home from the first day of school. I missed the morning shot.

Sundress I made for Olivia. I made some for Georgianna too. The two girls had fun at Georgie's b-day. Olivia helped open the present.

The boys got their wisdome teeth pulled. It was a quiet ride home.
I also did a BQ quilt with the Route 66 fabric. Who knows what I will do with them. Add them to the pile.

I even got a couple of schnibbles done.

The boys wanted to do something for Corey Dalley who has been the scout district leader and Stake Young Mens Pres. I put together this quilt with the Boy Scout fabric.

Foursey Onesy pattern by Shirley Baptist of Scrap Apple. It went together quick. It was one of my projects when my mom and I got to sew in her nice cool basement

I'm discombolulated. Pix are duplicating and I can't fix it!! Anyway here is the rest of my posting from before. Quilts I got bound on our trip to Montana.

A busy summer

I didn't think we had a lot happening this summer. I knew the boys would be gone to the National Jamboree but I expected to sit home and veg.....but then there were weddings and we went to Montana and took our grandson Bentley. I was feeling like the summer sewing season was passing me by but I stopped to take pix of what I had done and was amazed. So here's sew and tell.

Bentley with Great Grandpa, Great Grandma and checking out the history with grandpa

We even got in some rafting. And Bentley and I jumped off the cliff. Graceful, I'm not.

an addition to the family!

We had a wedding on July 3! Our son, Colin, married Samantha Miles in Logandale. It turned out beautiful. It was fun to have all our kids and grandkids here. 2 days later he flew out to Germany where he is stationed with the army. Samantha will be able to join him in 4-6 weeks. She is a sweetheart.

Our neighbor put together this sign to honor the boys inthe valley who are in the military. He has it at the end of his driveway so you can see it as you drive in the neighborhood. Jeff Humes, Kyler Freeman and Colin are the three across the top. Colin has done well at boot camp. He graduates next week. He will come home for a week for leave and then head back to be stationed in Germany. Doing that week he and Samantha Miles will be getting married. She is very patient to put up with the army schedule. We are excited to have her in the family.
I did a tulip swap. Mine is the deep purple in the left hand corner.

Weston's B-day and more

We got together for Weston's 1st b-day on May 8, in Zach and Allyson's new house in Ivins. We had a good time. I tried to get all the grandkids in one pix. As you can see that didn't work so well. Olivia is down in back and then she picked flowers to give to Georgie.

I got a couple of quilts done, the one is a pineapple quilt I bought a kit for. I loved the fabrics that were in the kit. The other was a mystery quilt from McCalls.

I had a moment of weakness and came home from a yard sale on Saturday with this cute little guy. He is 8 weeks and weighs 1 1/2 lbs. He loves to follow me around and snuggle under my chin or on my shoulder. I named him scoundrel. I must be losing it in my old age.

We took the boys to see Phantom of the Opera last night at the Venetian in Las Vegas. It was incredible. We all had a great time.

Time Flies

I check on friends blogs and think "oh, they haven't written in awhile" and realized its been a month since I did. and what a month. Colin went into the army. He is at Fort Benning Georgia.

this was a quilt I saw at the cedar City retreat and thought I could just come up with my own hearts. I just need to wash it so the frayed edges stand up. It also goes on the pile that needs to be quilted.

I saw this in a magazine and have been collecting my reds to do it. I love the red and white look.
I got my March Schnibble (roundabout) done and love the colors.

I got this pattern last year at Material Girls in Salt Lake and have just kept the embroidery in the car to work on. I love how it turned out.

This years trip to Material girls with my great friend Teresa. She is so patient and goes from quilt store to quilt store with me.

Doesn't Pace look excited to be at Material Girls. He was a good sport and was my traveling partner for spring break.

Tanner and Pace have done a couple of Flag Ceremonies this past month. One was for the Little League Opening Day and another was a Eagle Court of Honor. They have been taught to do it with military precision and it is quite impressive after watching cub scouts twiddle on down the aisle. The grandkids (and their parents) were here for Easter. Weston just wanted the rocks but the others knew their was candy to be found.
I entered some quilts in the County Fair.

Pace entered a scarf he knitted. He sent it off to his cousin after the fair.

Tanner spent the week of the fair working with Joe Perez at the vendor entrance, checking in vendors, Making sure things with them went smoothly and general help with the vendors and then checking them out at the end. But life was good, he had a cart and a radio what more could he ask for.

I've been on a swap kick. I did another red, white and blue, no sew swap. This was my block and I'm waiting to get the others. These swaps are so fun. I did a tulip swap where we all use the same pattern but choose our own flower colors. I need to fix the leaves on mine, they should be going up. then I did a neighborhood swap. I did a flower shoppe. I loved it until I saw some of the others. they were beautiful. but mine is still cute. Can't wait to get all those and see my little town. I didn't think I'd done much this month but I feel better now.

Another week

I put Bentley and Tristan to work painting the playhouse. It is looking great.

Georgie was checking out the steer on the other side of the fence.

zach, allyson and the kids came to visit. Kennan and her kids came for a few days. It was lots of fun. Kennan got to be here for the monthly quilt day at my house. She even had a quilt she was hand quilting. I've slacked off my sewing the last couple of weeks. But I'm back to it today! yeah!
