Its the middle of March!

Can't believe how time flies. I'll look at my pix and see what I've been doing.
St. thomas is a town that was covered by Lake Mead when Hoover dam was built. the settlers had to leave it all in the mid 1930's. Because of the drought it is uncovered right now. You can walk the streets and see the building foundations. Even the trees (dead) that had lined the main street. We had a big celebration down there a couple of weeks ago. The two boys were part of a 10 mile handcart trek that the youth did that came down into St. Thomas. they had short dramas about the history of the town. Tom and I were in one of those and I helped organize the entertainment for the day. Here we are decked out for the occasion. We are standing inside the school foundation.

Here I'm leading the music for the opening ceremony. Connie Whitney is accompanying on an old pump organ that was played at the ceremonies held there in 1956 when the lake was down then. You can see the walls of the school foundation.
Got my quilts done that I took the classes for at the retreat.

I forgot to rotate it, My daughter in law's sister asked Pace to be her escort for the dance teams annual dance revue. They had to do a waltz at the end and they did great. I'm not biased but they were the best!
I took Tanner to see Donny and Marie at the Flamingo. He loved it. It was a great show and different from the last time I saw them. Tanner has learned to just stand by the posters and let me take the pix.
Our son Zach made the paper. He's that handsome policeman.

Oops!

I took a tumble in the backyard Friday afternoon. We were all out working in the yard and I just fell over. My glasses hit and broke and dug out my cheek. I hit the paver steps. Tom took me to Mesquite to the emergency room.  Waste of time! I did get a cat scan to see if I broke any facial bones. all clear. So if I didn't have a round enough face, now I'm swollen. Oh, well. my tetanus shot is now up to date and good for 10 years.

New years at Pledgers house. Baleigh painted the sign. A rousing game of pictionary, mafia, matthew Mark, Board games and food.
How Pledger spent the evening! He did wake up to ring in the new year but doesn't remember it!

Ok I'm back

got my pics turned so now I can put them up.
I put together my leaves with a panel I found. I really like how it turned out. I did another field of flowers for me since I donated the last one. I also did my Ghastlies quilt in the shadowbox pattern. I love how it turned out. And I got my second lonestar quilted.
i even got brave and tried paper piecing. I'm calling it Desert Sunset.

Tanner walked at the head of the band (he's the drum major) in the Homecoming parade.
Pace playing in the parade. He also went to the Homecoming Dance the nxt night.

fall happenings

My sister will hate this but I have to show my projects I've been working on.We did a leaf swap with a bunch of my quilting buddies. This is the one I'm doing for a friend of mine. Back in a minute I have to go rotate my pix.

The end of summer

My nieces and nephews and sons at Riley's Eagle Court of Honor, Yeah! he got it all done. On to the next boy!
My brother with 3 of his 4 boys.I'm on Sam's back now to get his project going.

first day of school. Tanner is a senior and Pace a junior. Its the countdown. I just might survive it all.

Tanner leads the band at the football games (with his back to us) and Pace is across the way in the red shirt playing his trumpet. I go to the games now to watch them.

When we have a fire out back I get to have my own dept here to monitor it. Tanner is excited any time he gets to wear his turnouts. I'm sure he was frying as it was 110 degrees out there.

Tom, looking his best, (or normal) munches away and surveys the going ons.
I tended Kennan's children while she went on a girls weekend to Carson city. The kids spent a lot of time in the cold pool. But seemed to love it. Bentley was the mighty hunter, Georgianna the bathing beauty and Tristan just had fun.

A few of the quilting buddies got together for a leaf swap. I found this panel and it worked out perfectly with my set of leaves.
well, back to work. I'm getting quilts quilted, I got my blocks from my halloween swap so I have to put those together, and finish my Christmas card holder. We're planning a finish it Friday get toigether so maybe I can get those projects done this week.

Home from Montana

Just spent a week at my dad and mom's place in Montana. Quilting and relaxing is the name of the game,
Mom at her sewing table and the first two sections of her lone star. She got it donw and its gorgeous.

quilt I'm working on for a friend of Samantha's. I hope she likes it. It will end up King size. I got it done except for the last border.
I also learned a stack and whack with the dresden plate template. We went in a little quilt shop in Absorakee and I saw a christmas quilt done this way so the sales lady showed me how to do it. It is fun. I finished the last of the hand sewing on those blocks on the plane on the way home. You know, that whole idle hands thing. I also got 4 quilts bound while in Montana. My big suitcase was just quilts and projects and my carry on was clothes. Somethings wrong with this pix.
